Fixed-argument pairing inversion
PROVED An elliptic-curve-backed RR/Shoup generic oracle separates easy -ECDLP from FAPI-1; the theorem survived a second adversarial self-verification.
Problem
Setting
Let [ e:\mathbb G_1\times\mathbb G_2\longrightarrow\mathbb G_T ] be a bilinear pairing on an elliptic curve, with embedding degree .
Problems
- FAPI-1: Given , , and , find such that .
- FAPI-2: Exchange the roles of and .
Research task
Prove a polynomial-time equivalence between FAPI-1 and ECDLP in , or construct an oracle separation. A realistic partial target is to expose the Miller loop and final exponentiation as separate stages, measure their fibres and inversion costs at toy scale, characterize the fixed-argument Miller function, and state precisely where an attempted ECDLP-to-FAPI reduction stops.
Scope and validation targets
- Work only with toy parameters satisfying the repository ceiling.
- Validate a staged implementation against an independently published test vector.
- Verify bilinearity and non-degeneracy over many deterministic random trials.
- Keep FAPI-1 and FAPI-2 results explicitly distinguished.
Findings & state of play
State in five lines
PROVED A002 supplies an elliptic-curve-backed RR/Shoup generic oracle separation. PROVED With source DLP supplied, FAPI-1 is exactly target DLP at fixed generators. PROVED Satoh raw MI transfers to FAPI-1 on the measured degree-two family. EMPIRICAL: 82 targets Every transferred raw inverse passed; canonical final roots passed 0 times. PROVED A005 independently self-verified the result and every P2.4 sub-goal is complete.

What is ruled out
- PROVED A source-only DLP call cannot consume a target handle; its missing operation is FAPI itself.

- PROVED An arbitrary final root succeeds on only a fraction of a cyclic fibre.
- PROVED No coordinate-aware finite-field lower bound follows from the generic oracle theorem.

What I would tell my replacement
PROVED The proof has two distinct randomness steps: first couple each challenge to a uniform encoding to obtain the query bound, then use Markov–Borel–Cantelli to select one fixed infinite oracle. Conflating those steps was the only genuine proof-level defect found in the audit, and A004 records its repair.
